I had the honour recently to have the kind folks from Humans of Christchurch Ōtautahi to my home and studio to interview me about my pivot from full time teaching to full time illustrating and everything in between!

Messages of Support from the Children of New Zealand.

Following the 2019 March Mosque Terrorist Attack in Christchurch our teachers and children went through a stressful lock down, as well as the aftermath of such a horrific act of hate in our city. In response I wanted to make my collaborative block poster featuring our national icon, the Kiwi available for free as a way for teachers to ease back into the school week with their students.

So many teachers downloaded that resource this week, and the response and outpouring of support and love for Christchurch and our muslim and immigrant communities has been huge. Children across the country creating something beautiful together to bring comfort, peace, and hope to us here in Christchurch.

I will keep these amazing art works and messages of love, acceptance, and support here and update as more are sent to me.

Thank you, Tamariki o Otautahi. You make us proud.

THE SIX-FOOT RATS BOOK LAUNCH

NZAVS and Rebecca Gibbs Illustration were excited to host a book launch for our new children's book, illustrated and written by Rebecca, earlier this November. Green MPs Gareth Morgan and Chloe Swarbrick gave the first ever live reading and we enjoyed face painting, a petting zoo, and children's entertainer Ruth the Rat. Rebecca would like to thank Gareth, Chloe, Ruth Dyson, Poto Williams, all the people who attended and to NZAVS for hosting such a great event. You can purchase your copy from Scorpio Books or online at www.nzavs.org.nz

the six foot rats - update

The reviews are beginning to come in for this book which I wrote and Illustrated! Thank you to everyone who has been so generous with offering their reviews

Porsche and CCst

Christchurch is seeing many new buildings and improvements post-quake. I am very excited to have been commissioned by Hanham & Philp to design murals to be displayed temporarily on the hoardings outside of the new Porsche dealership and Christchurch Clinical Studies Trust building. They will be going up in a few weeks so keep an out around the corner of Antigua and Tuam street to see them!

Meeting Jane Goodall

The New Zealand Anti-Vivisection and I have collaborated on a children's book about the life of a lab rat with all proceeds going to NZAVS. I am very excited to be so close to a release date and was lucky enough to get to sit down with Jane Goodall to discuss the book. Jane is obviously very passionate about Animal Rights and was very generous to spend time talking to us about it!

Papai’s Earthquake Book for Kids

A group of awesome Christchurch Girls High School students commissioned me to illustrate their business studies project, a children’s book based around earthquake anxiety. I have been really impressed with their work on the project and highly recommend ordering your own copy! It even comes with activities to start a positive conversation with your children about earthquakes.
